ONLINE…ON TIME RENEWALS

The Home Builders Licensure Board (HBLB) is now renewing homebuilder licenses on the Internet. In August and September, the Board mails a series of direct mail pieces designed to inform all licensees about online renewals, as well as provide a method for licensees to request the old-fashioned paper renewal packages. This series of mailers contains a card that can be returned to the HBLB to request paper renewal packages. These returnable cards are designed solely for those who don’t have Internet access or can’t find someone who has Internet access to help them renew. Online license renewals are by far the easiest, most convenient, fastest and most accurate way for Alabama’s homebuilders and remodelers to renew their licenses each year.

In addition to online renewals, homebuilders and remodelers can also take advantage of the online credit report ordering offered by Holloway Credit Solutions, LLC. A link is provided on the renewal page directing you to the credit report order form, and a check sheet appears to ensure that the entire process has been completed with no errors or omissions. Credit reports can also be ordered by going directly to www.hollowaycredit.com.

• No paper renewal packages will be mailed on October 1, unless specifically requested in writing. Licensees can request a paper renewal package by returning a postcard sent to them for that purpose.
   
• All licensing deadlines will remain the same. Online renewals will begin October 1, and be accepted as timely renewed when the final payment button is pressed until 11:59 pm November 30.
   
• All electronic renewals received between December 1, and 11:59 pm December 31, will be considered late, and a $25 late fee will automatically be applied.
   
• All electronic renewals received on or after January 1, will be considered expired, and a $295 expired license application processing fee will automatically be applied.
   
• Visa and MasterCard will be accepted for payment of online licensing services.
   
• Online…On Time license renewals are more accurate. The electronic renewal process eliminates errors and omissions by the use of required information fields.
   
• Online…On Time license renewals are easier. The online process guides the applicant through the process and is available 24-7. Applicants can renew as late as 11:59 pm on the day of the deadline.
   
• Online…On Time license renewals are faster. Reports and payments are downloaded to the Home Builders Licensure Board daily, with no delay or lag time as with a postal service.
